Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in Indian Philately

A special commemorative stamp was published on May 28, 1970 by Indian Post and Telegraph Department depicting a portrait of Sri Savarkar (28 May, 1883 Bombay Presidency – 26 February, 1966, Bombay, Maharashtra) along with Celluar Jail of Port Blair in the background. The colour of the stamp is saffron with denomination of 20 Paise.
The photographs of the First Day Cover and the Brochure of that publication are also attached here with. He was an Independence activist, politician, writer and orator of India. Yesterday was his death anniversary.
