JNU students do goondaism to block Prof. Anand Ranganathan from entering his department & science lab. See how these goonda students tell Security person to mind his own business, and when he asks the guy who blocks how much scholarship he gets, he says ₹35000.
When the professor then asks them, can’t you pay the 10 Rs increase to 300 rs fees from his ₹35000 of tax payer money, the students tell him that is not his business. These students who preach aazaadi, freedom of speech, save democracy, secularism, free Kashmir, support Afzal Guru, call Govt. Fascists, and slogans like “Kashmir ki azadi tak jung chalegi, Bharat ki barbadi tak jung chalegi” (“War will continue till Kashmir’s freedom, war will continue till India’s demolition”) .
See how they disrespect the professor while blocking him out of his own workplace. If this is not goondaism, then what is? Right to protest does not mean right to prevent.
The above video as become almost viral right now. By virtue of my staying in USA for a long time I’ve not seen such scene anywhere. One of the main reason, unlike many Institutes in India higher education is not free in the United States.
For college education people usually have to pay $20-$25,000 in Public universities that is state universities Like Penn State university or university of Utah or university of Michigan. On the other hand this amount can be much higher to the tune of $60-$65,000 per year at private schools like University of Pennsylvania or Harvard university or Stanford university.
These are very expensive to most American students Who have to take a loan Even to go to Public university. It is very uncommon to see American university students spending much time in politics or political demonstrations. One very important reason may be that they are paying For their education And not getting it free paid by the taxpayers dollars.
Also it should be noted that in no country in the world people Would tolerate paying for higher education with tax money. What makes the situation in India really laughable is this that high quality of education is paid by The government despite knowing the fact that most of the students after getting free education leave the country.
This immense amount of money is much better spent on primary education and basic health services. To most outsiders it seems that India has taken the responsibility of supplying highly trained scientists and engineers to the United States at the cost of Basic primary education to hundreds of millions of your children across the country.
What seems even more ludicrous is the fact that most people in India are completely oblivious to this very important fact. Even if you see the scenario in Kolkata, the fact remain same. A student of St. Xavier’s College here pays Rs. 1,12,000/- p.a to the institution. He has no time to do the day long rally or demonstration. Instead he or she focus on his studies & extra curricular activities. The student of SXC or such institution always think to value his spending or payment. But a student who make his/ her career don’t feel it and claims that it is Govt. duty to sponsor any student.
An economist, who is working with Govt. of India in Delhi but want to be anonymous, has supported this view. He has opined, “JNU is a comfortable place where mediocre students or even failed students can get degree without even going into class. Mostly from West Bengal and Bihar, these students pick up some arts subject to get an entry and if there is a clever chap like Ghosh then joining in larger politics becomes the post-JNU job.”
